By far my favourite summer job! Incredible staff and would happily work here again!
This summer job was my favourite by far. The people who work here are incredible and clearly passionate about their work. It is a very inspiring environment and allows for personal growth, as well as opportunities to gain valuable experience. I highly recommend this as a place of work and I hold my time here as a summer student with great regard.

When I first started, I was fresh out of university and they took a chance on me. Through the years, they have assisted with upgrading my education and offered other learning opportunities. I love what I do everyday and I wouldn’t change a thing. We are unionized and well compensated for the fast paced, stressful environment in which we work.

Very supportive with work life balance
I would have to say that ffom the time I started until now it has grown a lot, which means more hats to wear. Its non profit so the main focus is on funding for programs, there is not much room for advancement in the admin aspect. Its a very easy going atmosphere as far as anyone watching the clock...the main focus is your job gets done and if it does then no one really watches when you came in and when you leave.

Great house enviroment. Feels like home rather then a mental health facility.
A typical day can rage from one on one counselling to administering medications to going on group outings, or working on daily life skills. Each day I learn something new about mental health, administering best social care methods and theories. I enjoy the teamwork environment and the cohesion Canadian Mental Health advocates for.
The most difficult days are when a resident is going through full psychosis, suicidal tenancies and when individuals want to leave the facility permanently without being ready to do so. The most rewarding and enjoyable part of my work and job, is to see people use new positive skills that they have learned from our facility. I find it extremely gratifying to watch residents move from our home and out on there own.

Unsupportive management. No HR. Workplace culture is dishonest, lacks confidentiality, unprofessional, gossipy, and has declined tremendously. The work environment is not client-focused or employee supported, it is growth and funding hungry.
