pay is low and management can be stressful
management is awful at scheduling, often not listening to days you are unavailable or asked to take off weeks in advance. The environment can be stressful sometimes.

Avoid !
The only good thing about this job is it super flexible so if you’re a student or retired it’s great. Other than that good luck. I worked there for four years and it was the worst four years of my life you get treated like dirt and they play favorites.

Only if theres nothing else left
Idk if itll show my wage but its 13.60 its terrible
Dont work in the front end. A department of dead carcasses trying to maintain their high school prime of top dog in the social food chain. This of course applies to the entire store, though the front end is especially notorious for this for this kind of behaviour, whether it be due to the type of person being hired or the toxic environment instantiated by management. Your raises are erased by min wage increasing, more job duties for no increase in pay, conspiracy against one another to obtain more hours or just for the fun of it. Look at my hourly pay, I've been there for 5 years and had to fight to get a 50 cent bump in pay after 3 years lmao
Points positifsSome decent people youll meet
Points négatifsThe entire system, you'll hate your life

Overall a very good entry level job for young folks looking to get experience or older folks looking for some side income.
Sobeys, as a whole is a good company to work for, unfortunately the bulk of my time was during the pandemic, when people are less friendly, respectful, and patient, making the job more difficult than it should be. Paired with this is the fact that some Sobeys had owners that seemed to value customers, even the problematic ones, over supporting their employees, leading to a high turnover rate. I cannot speak for all Sobeys as I know others made sure their staff remained well supported and appreciated. It does, however, offer a lot of different skill development opportunities. Most importantly, customer service experience, as well as adaptability in a constantly changing work environment (especially during a pandemic) as well as more administrative skills if working in the front end as a supervisor or manager.
The occasional lack of proper support from management and the complete disrespect from customers during this pandemic can make it difficult to do the job, but the unending support of the regular team and supervisors gets you through even the toughest patches.
Points positifsLarge team that is easy to get along with and can often support or cover you should you need it.
Points négatifslack of management support when faced with difficult and impatient customers during the pandemic.

Challenging and rewarding
Typical work day in the CoE is challenging as well as rewarding, it allows one to focus on how to engage all different lines of business and develop tools and processes that will allow everyone to succeed. Working as a team the CoE has been able to achieve many milestones in a short matter of time and adopt the new processes and tools across the country.
