Panacea Clinic is 18,000 sqf facility which includes 2 large operating rooms, 2 minor procedures rooms, 2 endoscopy units, a PACU, an MDR, a physiotherapy department and subspecialty clinics. Orthopaedic, General, Plastic and Dental procedures will be performed. The facility is designed carefully to maximize the space utilization and to meet the latest SOPs and best practice to ensure quality of services, and achieve patient safety.
Job Description
The PACU registered nurse will apply all aspects of nursing to the care of outpatient surgical patients in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the PACU, but may also be required to help in preparing patients for surgery or discharging patients from recovery. Occasional help in the Pre-Admission Clinic may also be necessary.
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
- ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing
- Recent Surgical Day Care nursing experience with outpatient orthopaedic procedures preferred
- Recent PACU and/or critical care nursing experience required.
- Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
- Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred but not required.
- Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required
- Experience with phlebotomy and other ambulatory care procedures.
- Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
- Strong patient assessment skills essential
- Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
- Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
Additional Information
Hours: Monday to Sunday; 8-hour shifts; Days and Evenings - On call PACU shifts scheduled (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)
