Job Summary
BDA Transport is seeking a reliable, safety-conscious, and professional 5-Ton Truck Driver to join our growing transportation team in Winnipeg.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight throughout Winnipeg and surrounding areas. This position requires someone who takes pride in providing excellent customer service, handling freight carefully, maintaining accurate documentation, and keeping their vehicle in safe operating condition.
The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, comfortable working independently, and able to work in a fast-paced transportation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 5-ton truck for local and regional freight deliveries.
- Complete deliveries and pickups according to assigned routes and schedules.
- Load, unload, inspect, and properly secure freight to prevent damage during transportation.
- Operate pallet jacks, liftgates, dollies, and other freight-handling equipment as required.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any defects or maintenance concerns.
- Ensure the vehicle, cargo, and equipment are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
- Complete delivery paperwork, manifests, bills of lading, logs, and proof-of-delivery documentation accurately.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, warehouse personnel, customers, and other drivers.
- Provide timely updates to dispatch regarding delays, traffic, delivery issues, or changes to the route.
- Handle customer deliveries and pickups in a courteous and professional manner.
- Follow all applicable Manitoba transportation laws, company policies, and workplace safety procedures.
- Report accidents, incidents, damaged freight, or vehicle concerns promptly.
- Perform basic vehicle troubleshooting and minor maintenance when required.
- Assist with general warehouse or transportation duties when necessary.
- Represent BDA Transport professionally while interacting with customers and the public.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid Manitoba Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement (or equivalent).
- Clean and acceptable driver’s abstract.
- Previous experience operating a 5-ton truck or similar commercial vehicle is an asset.
- Previous experience in freight, delivery, courier, or transportation operations is an asset.
- Knowledge of safe freight handling, cargo securement, and commercial vehicle safety procedures.
- Ability to safely operate freight-handling equipment such as pallet jacks and liftgates.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while following assigned routes and delivery schedules.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Professional attitude and strong customer-service skills.
- Ability to lift and move freight and perform physically demanding duties throughout the workday.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or troubleshooting skills is considered an asset.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and meet the physical demands of the position.
