What is the Opportunity?
CanAtom, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Aecon, is delivering the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Project under a collaborative contract with Ontario Power Generation.
The joint venture is underway to complete the retube, feeder, and boiler replacement (RFBR) of Units 5–8. Building on the successful delivery of the Darlington Refurbishment Project, the CanAtom team brings proven experience in safely executing complex nuclear projects on time and on budget to support Ontario’s clean energy future.
The Human Performance (Hu) Lead will report to the Performance Assurance Manager. This position will be responsible for implementation of Aecon’s Human Performance Program, including facilitating Hu Training, Leading Learning Teams, and developing Crew Learning Briefs.
What You'll Do Here:
Implement and reinforce the program elements of the Human Performance (Hu) program including Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC)
Providing consistent messaging on Hu and NSC; Daily briefs, Superintendent and FP/GF mtgs, posters, lanyards, and booklets
Facilitate and develop Hu and NSC training for the Supervisors, PMT and Workers.
Ensuring all Project Leadership, supervisors, and workers are utilizing the Error Reduction Techniques adopted by Aecon
Provide data analysis regarding field observations, events and associated trends
Facilitate Hu and NSC Surveys and Self Assessments on both programs
Support execution teams with field observation techniques
Assist in safety or quality investigations and have experience in causal analysis within the nuclear industry
Facilitate Learning Teams either proactively or reactively
Facilitate the implementation and development of Crew Learning Briefs
Have a general understanding of application of Human Factors and its principles as it applies to nuclear construction practices including automated or manual tooling
What You Bring to the Team:
Post-Secondary Education in a related technical discipline (Science, engineering, industrial, environmental, safety or equivalent).
Ability to work with others in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Computer skills in Excel and Word required.
Have knowledge or experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) and how it applies to the nuclear construction industry
Knowledge and application of CNSC REGDOC-2-2-1/2-1-2, IAEA-TECDOC-1846, INPO 24-001/12–012/ 06-003, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and CSA N286/N299 would be a valuable asset
This role will be a split from working at the construction site and working within office conditions
Occasional travel may be required
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, if applicable

The expected pay range for this role is $85,000 - $105,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
