Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Truck and Trailer Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty trucks and trailers to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties
- Perform comprehensive inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers.
- Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulic components, engines, brakes, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- Apply basic welding and fabrication skills as needed for minor repairs, such as freeing or repairing broken/seized bolts and small component fixes (professional-level welding is not required, but working knowledge is expected).
- Operate power tools and hand tools safely to disassemble and reassemble mechanical parts with precision.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance logs to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Assist in heavy lifting operations using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues on trucks and trailers.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience in dealership, fleet, or general truck repair .
- Knowledge of diesel engine systems (e.g., Cummins, Detroit, Caterpillar, or similar) is advantageous.
- Must have own tools and toolbox.
- Basic working knowledge of welding for minor repairs (e.g., broken or seized bolts) — professional welding certification not required.
- Skilled in electrical troubleshooting, schematics reading, and safe use of power tools.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs.
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members.
- Red Seal/Journeyman certification not required; ongoing training is encouraged to stay current on industry standards.
