About the role.
As a Grading Station Operator, you will play a key role in supporting raw material quality and maintaining efficient production flow within the potato house. This position is responsible for accurately sampling, grading, and directing incoming potato loads while upholding McCain’s standards for safety, quality, and operational excellence. This opportunity is available as both a full-time and temporary position, working a 4-on, 4-off rotating schedule.
What you’ll be doing.

Unload and sample incoming potato trucks and direct loads into appropriate bins

Ensure potato color and gravity specifications are met during unloading

Collect approximately 25 lb samples from each truck load for grading

Weigh, wash, and prepare samples while minimizing material loss

Deliver prepared samples to potato graders for evaluation

Maintain cleanliness and ensure proper operation of potato house equipment, walls, and doors

Accurately enter sampling and grading data into systems

Communicate effectively with the Shift Manager regarding raw material changes or concerns

Follow HACCP, GMP, and all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE

Participate in team meetings and support additional tasks as required
What you’ll need to be successful.

Grade 12 diploma or GED (considered an asset)

Previous experience as a Potato Grader or in a similar role (considered an asset)

Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills
-
Proven reliability with excellent attendance and safety record

Ability to work rotating shifts (4-on, 4-off schedule)

Physical ability to lift approximately 25 lbs and perform manual tasks

Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals
-
Willingness to complete forklift training certification

Ability to adapt to changing operational needs professionally

Successful completion of a 90-day training period
About the team.
You will be part of a collaborative operations team within the potato house, working closely with Shift Managers, graders, and fellow team members. The team is focused on ensuring smooth unloading, sampling, and grading processes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency to support daily production goals.

Compensation Package: - Starting at 27.41 CAD hourly + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
