Health Promoting Schools Food Coordinator
Position Type: Temporary, Part-time (28 hrs/week; September 1/2026 to March 30/2027)
Location: Hutton Annex/Admin Building, Grand Forks, BC
The School District is seeking a dedicated and organized Health Promoting Schools Food Coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of school food programs under BC's Feeding Futures initiative. The HPSF Coordinator will apply advanced knowledge and leadership skills in planning, organizing, implementing, capacity building, and evaluating programs, policies, and environments that support healthy food programs. This role supports student well-being by ensuring reliable access to nutritious, culturally responsive food across the district.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee school-based food programs (breakfast, lunch, snacks).
- Manage/support food purchasing, menu planning, and distribution logistics for both internal food programs and third-party food service contracts.
- Build partnerships with local suppliers, Indigenous communities, and community organizations.
- Provide training and support to school staff and program workers.
- Track budgets, expenditures, and program data; prepare reports for District and Ministry requirements.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, District policies, and Feeding Futures guidelines.
- Promote inclusive, sustainable, and culturally relevant food practices.
- Support the development, implementation and review of policy, administrative and safe work procedures and guidelines related to school food programs.
Qualifications/Experience
- Degree in program administration and management, population health nutrition, sustainable food systems, food policy, school food service, or asset-based community development, and/or equivalent training/experience.
- Minimum two years of recent work experience in the food or social services field.
- Knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and culturally inclusive food practices.
- Experience and/or familiar with the BC education sector, including K-12 schools, BC curriculum, and education stakeholders, e.g., administrators, school district trustees, union members, educators, parents/guardians, students.
- Experience in project management/coordination that requires systems-thinking and innovative program implementation.
- Experience in asset mapping/needs assessment, operational planning, as well as budgeting, managing, and evaluating programming of similar nature and scope.
- Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently across multiple school sites.
- Food Safe Level 1 required; Level 2 an asset.
- Valid BC Driver's License and dependable vehicle to be able to visit schools, community partners and food preparation sites across the District.

This part-time, temporary position is 28 hours per week, with typical schedule being Monday to Thursday, effective September 1, 2026 to March 30, 2027. The annual salary range for this position is $43,740 to $55,009 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
