Paddling Director
Rocky Point Kayak – Port Moody, BC
Seasonal Leadership Position: February 15 to October 15
Rocky Point Kayak is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial Paddling Director to lead our instructional programs, staff development, and paddling operations while helping grow one of British Columbia's premier paddlesport businesses.
This is a senior leadership position for someone who is passionate about paddlesports, enjoys developing people, and has the drive to build programs, increase participation, and grow revenue through innovation and outstanding customer experiences.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold, or be actively working toward obtaining, the following Paddle Canada certifications:
- Paddle Canada Level 3 Sea Kayak Skills Instructor
- Paddle Canada Level 1 Sea Kayaking Instructor Trainer
Current Wilderness First Aid and CPR certification is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate instructors and guides.
- Deliver and oversee Paddle Canada courses and instructor development.
- Develop staff schedules and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Maintain the highest standards of safety, instruction, and customer service.
- Assist with purchasing and maintenance of kayaks, paddleboards, and operational equipment.
- Develop new tours, lessons, clinics, events, and instructional programs.
- Build relationships with tourism partners, schools, corporate groups, and community organizations.
- Identify and implement innovative promotions and marketing initiatives to grow participation and revenue.
- Monitor program performance and recommend improvements to increase profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Support day-to-day operations during busy periods.

Located in beautiful Rocky Point Park, Port Moody, Rocky Point Kayak offers kayak and paddleboard rentals, guided tours, Paddle Canada instruction, youth camps, corporate events, and community paddling programs. We are committed to providing exceptional experiences while continuing to grow the sport of paddling throughout the Lower Mainland.
Compensation
- $45,000–$50,000 per season (approximately 6.5 months), based on experience and qualifications.
- Performance incentives may be available based on business growth and achievement of key objectives.
- For the right candidate who demonstrates exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to growing Rocky Point Kayak, there may be an opportunity to participate in the future ownership of the company through an equity or partnership arrangement.
Pay: $45,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
