CPA Manager – Public Accounting
Location: Ingersoll, Ontario

Salary: $85,000–$125,000 per year, depending on experience

McRoberts Professional Corporation is seeking an experienced CPA Manager to join our public accounting firm in Ingersoll, Ontario.
This position is designed for an experienced CPA who enjoys working with owner-managed businesses and providing high-quality client service but is looking for a more sustainable alternative to the traditional public accounting workload.
The position is a full-time salaried role with an expected workload of approximately 1,500 total working hours per year.
This means approximately 1,500 total hours worked — not 1,500 billable hours plus additional administrative time.
The successful candidate will work directly with the firm owner and will have the opportunity to become a key member of the firm's leadership team as the practice continues to grow.
Responsibilities
Depending on experience, responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing compilation engagement files and financial statements
- Reviewing personal income tax returns
- Managing and maintaining relationships with a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
- Providing practical accounting and tax guidance to clients
- Reviewing work completed by junior and intermediate staff
- Coaching and supporting team members
- Assisting with workflow management and engagement deadlines
- Identifying accounting, tax and business matters requiring further attention
- Working directly with the firm owner on complex client matters
- Contributing to improvements in firm processes and client service
The responsibilities of the position may expand over time based on the successful candidate's experience, interests and career goals.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Canadian CPA designation in good standing
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience working in a Canadian public accounting firm
- Strong experience with compilation engagements and Canadian corporate taxation
- Experience preparing or reviewing T2 corporate income tax returns
- Experience preparing or reviewing T1 personal income tax returns
- Strong understanding of accounting for Canadian owner-managed businesses
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgment
- Currently residing within reasonable commuting distance of Ingersoll, Ontario
- Legally authorized to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
- Able to work regularly from our Ingersoll office
Experience reviewing files and supervising or mentoring staff is considered an asset.
Location Requirement
This is a local position based in Ingersoll, Ontario.
We are specifically seeking a candidate who currently resides within reasonable commuting distance of Ingersoll and is available to work regularly from our office.
This is not a remote position. Relocation assistance and immigration sponsorship are not available.

Compensation and Workload
The anticipated salary range is $85,000–$125,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
The role is designed around approximately 1,500 total working hours annually.
Unlike many public accounting positions, the 1,500-hour expectation refers to approximately total time worked, rather than a billable-hour target requiring significant additional non-billable time.
