The Opportunity
Proline is seeking a hardworking, motivated mechanic to support our diverse fleet of utility construction equipment, heavy equipment, trucks, and trailers. This hands-on role is based primarily at our Red Deer shop, with local field service work required as operational needs arise.
The successful candidate will be comfortable diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining both heavy equipment and automotive units. Strong hydraulic troubleshooting and repair knowledge is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, utility construction units, trucks, and trailers.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, hoses, valves, controls, and related components.
Complete preventive maintenance and identify repair needs before they lead to downtime.
Respond to local field-service requirements and complete repairs safely and efficiently outside the shop when needed.
Document inspections, maintenance, repairs, parts used, and outstanding equipment concerns.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and follow Proline's safety policies and procedures.
Operate or road-test company units when properly licensed and authorized.
Equipment You May Work On:
Digger derrick units and bucket truck units
Backhoes, skid steers, and directional drills
One-ton trucks and half-ton trucks
Trailers and other utility construction support equipment
Qualifications and Experience
Demonstrate mechanical experience with Prolines diverse fleet
Proficiency in hydraulic system diagnostics, maintenance, and repair is required.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize repairs and work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Valid driver's licence and a clean, insurable driving record.
Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence is highly preferred, as the mechanic may be required to move or drive units.
Willingness and ability to work approximately 10-hour days, plus additional overtime and weekends when required.
Ability to perform the physical duties of the role and work safely in both shop and outdoor field conditions.
Tools and Work Requirements
This is not a fully tool-supplied position. The successful candidate must provide and maintain the standard personal hand tools required to perform the work. Proline provides a yearly tool allowance.
