Who we are:

Hudbay is a Canadian integrated mining company with operations, development properties and exploration activities across the Americas principally focused on the discovery, production and marketing of base and precious metals.

The Opportunity:

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Plant Metallurgist to join the Metallurgy team at our New Britannia and Stall Mill concentrators in Snow Lake, MB. Reporting to the Metallurgical Superintendent, this site-based role works to improve the metallurgical and operational performance of the concentrators by providing technical support to the operations teams while seeking improvement opportunities for increased cash flow and reduced costs.

This position is 14 days on/14 days off, camp accommodations and air travel arrangements to and from site are provided. Alternatively, relocation packages and housing assistance is available to move you and your family to the vibrant community of Snow Lake, Manitoba

Role responsibilities:

· Ensure all activities are carried out consistent with Hudbay’s safety policies and values.

· Develops a detailed understanding of the process flow sheets and operation of the New Britannia and Stall mill concentrators.

· Provides metallurgical guidance to the operations department on circuit operating strategy and plant operating parameters, informed by robust data and/or test work.

· Identification and subsequent troubleshooting of plant performance issues, self-identifying corrective actions to address gap to target performance metrics.

· Identification and implementation of improvement opportunities, actively seeking opportunities for increased free cash flow and reduced costs.

· Active participation in plant commissioning tasks and plant surveys.

· Prepares scopes for laboratory and plant test work as required.

· Complete daily and monthly metallurgical accounting duties as required.

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

· +1.5 years experience in the minerals processing industry

· Exposure to milling and flotation unit processes for part of that time

· University degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering

· Canadian Professional Engineers (P.Eng) designation preferred

Knowledge, skills and attributes:

· Strong technical understanding of extractive metallurgy and plant operation.

· Proficient in Microsoft Excel (data solver, VBA)

· Accountability and an owner’s mindset

· Strong problem solving capabilities

· Effective written and spoken communication skills

· Ability to work constructively and effectively with all internal and external stakeholders

· High level of commitment to improving the business through continuous improvement
