POSITION TITLE: Poultry Veterinarian – Full Time

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated veterinarian to join our team with a focus on poultry medicine, flock health management, preventative health programming, and producer education and support. This is a full-time position based out of Alberta: (Lethbridge, Red Deer, or Camrose) with flexibility on location. The successful candidate will work with poultry producers and allied industry partners to support flock health, production outcomes, animal welfare, food safety, and biosecurity. Job Description:
- Provide comprehensive veterinary care to poultry flocks, including disease investigation, disease prevention, diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prevention strategies, and epidemiological support.
- Conduct regular flock health assessments and develop practical flock health plans for broiler, breeder, layer, turkey, and specialty poultry operations as applicable.
- Perform on-farm visits, diagnostic sampling, post-mortem examinations, and interpretation of laboratory results.
- Develop, review, and support vaccination, medication, monitoring, and preventative health programs.
- Assess flock welfare, biosecurity, sanitation, and food safety practices, and work with producers to develop individualized practical solutions and tools.
- Support quality assurance programs, animal care programs, and welfare audits within poultry production systems.
- Collaborate with poultry producers, hatcheries, feed mills, processors, industry partners, and regulatory stakeholders to optimize flock performance and health outcomes.
- Educate clients and farm teams on poultry health, biosecurity, animal welfare, disease prevention, and best management practices.
- Stay current with advancements in poultry veterinary medicine, diagnostics, vaccines, production systems, and emerging disease risks.
- Analyze flock health, production, mortality, serology, and diagnostic data to identify trends and recommend evidence-based improvements.
- Support export assessments, flock inspections, documentation, and regulatory requirements where applicable.
- Participate in research, extension, and continuous improvement initiatives that advance poultry health and production.

Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Registered Veterinarian in the province of Alberta and/or Saskatchewan or eligible to be registered in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan
- DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school
- Team player mentality and a drive to grow within poultry veterinary medicine
- Interest in poultry medicine, flock health, preventative medicine, biosecurity, and food animal production
- Poultry, food animal, production animal, or epidemiology experience is considered an asset
- Strong analytical skills with an interest in interpreting production, diagnostic, and flock health data
- A positive and professional manner with clients, producers, industry partners, and co-workers
- Respect for the ethics of veterinary medicine, animal welfare, food safety, and poultry production
- Respect for safety protocols and on-farm biosecurity procedures
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional client service
- Attention to detail, good time management skills, and strong written and spoken communication skills
- Comfortable working in poultry barns, hatcheries, and other production environments
