Cold Bore Technology has built a standard platform that will create, collect, and structure independent data sources into a format that is consumable and consistent for the end user. We work with a number of departments within our partners organizations to help solution their current data and operational issues. JOB OVERVIEW
Intermediate/Senior Software Engineer to join a growing team building reliable, data-driven backend systems. You’ll work across services, data pipelines, and infrastructure with a strong focus on correctness, maintainability, and production readiness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, build, and maintain backend services (primarily in Elixir)
- Develop automation and data-processing workflows using Python
- Write efficient, production-grade SQL for transactional and analytical use cases
- Build, maintain, and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines
- Containerize applications and deploy them using Docker and/or Kubernetes
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests
- Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and incident debugging
- Improve system observability, reliability, and performance
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 3–7 years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience building and maintaining backend systems in production
- Elixir (or strong professional experience with functional languages and the ability to ramp up quickly)
- Python for scripting, services, or data processing
- Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL or similar)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines
- Experience using Docker and/or Kubernetes in a production environment
- Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative code review workflows
- Comfortable working in a Linux-based environment
NICE TO HAVE
- OTP experience (GenServer, supervision trees)
- Event-driven or message-based architectures (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.)
- Experience with distributed systems or high-throughput data pipelines
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Helm, etc.)
