Job Title: Corporate Financial Specialist
Location: G3 Head Office (On-Site)
Working under the direction of the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Corporate Financial Specialist ensures the provision of timely, relevant and accurate financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, and annual). This role completes all accounting-related activities related to our Selling, General and Administrative (SG&A) head office costs and net other income accounts including month end processes, forecasting and budgeting, and monthly reporting to stakeholders. The Corporate Financial Specialist also completes various intercompany and consolidation entries to assist in preparation of the monthly consolidation financial statements. This role is also key in the consolidation of the annual budget and rolling forecast data for all G3 entities for presentation to the Executive. The Corporate Financial Specialist also supports in the preparation of the year-end financial statement disclosures and works closely with external auditors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management and Monthly Reporting
- Prepares, analyses, and interprets monthly SG&A results for head office cost centres and executives. Discusses variances against budget and forecast with stakeholders.
- Assists in the preparation of accurate and timely month-end board and shareholder reporting on SG&A costs and net other income accounts.
Budgeting and Forecasting
- Collaborates with FP&A, grain earnings, and head office stakeholders to build and consolidate the monthly rolling forecast and integrate into month-end reporting.
- Prepares the annual budget for SG&A cost centers and net other income items, including developing budget templates and analyzing management submissions.
- Consolidates annual budget and forecast data for G3 entities, including income statement, intercompany eliminations, and consolidation entries for executive and board reporting.
- Loads detailed budget and forecast data (account and cost center level) into the SAP module used by finance teams for monthly analysis.
Financial Reporting
- Completes the month end journal entries and account reconciliations for SG&A, NOI, for all entities. Acts as the main contact for accounting related to the Laker vessel, including monthly revenue, expenses, and layup costs.
- Responsible for the monthly income statement, balance sheet, and cashflow for parent and corporate entities.
- Monitors compliance with IFRS standards by maintaining current technical knowledge and supporting implementation of new standards through stakeholder engagement and action planning. Documents accounting policies and procedures for management and audit purposes.
- Assists in preparing year-end financial statement note disclosures for assigned sections across various entities.
- Provides documentation and support to external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
Other
- Collaborates with the Corporate Accounting Team and FP&A to maintain and develop dashboards for stakeholders, ensuring consistent formatting across reports.
- Maintains process documentation and proactively identifies opportunities to standardize and improve efficiencies across the finance team.
- Performs other ad hoc and project-related duties as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Highly detail oriented with effective communication and time management skills
- 3+ years’ experience in an analyst or equivalent role
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and CPA designated
- Strong SAP experience and general grain industry knowledge considered an asset
- Advanced excel and analytical reporting
- PowerBI experience considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and problem-solve in a confidential environment
