Job Purpose
Reporting to the Custom Project Planner, this position will directly support our Shipping/ Receiving/Inventory team and ensuring the business is able to meet its deliverables of cost effective, on time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for dealing with with international logistics companies and brokers
- Handle NAFTA, commercial invoice, HS Codes, B13 and in arranging of international shipments (inbound and outbound)
- Prepare waybills, bills of lading, customs invoices, and labels for shipments inbound and outbound from Canada, the USA and international countries
- Responsible for picking parts as per process to support internal customers including Production, Shipping/Receiving, Customer Service and Engineering
- Prepare picked parts for internal / external customers via processes, which may include photographing, packaging, kitting, tracking traceable parts, specialized marking etc.
- Execute transactions within the ERP system (SAP) including management of bin locations and resolution of variances
- Identify, transact and analyze inventory variances and corrective action root causes to prevent reoccurrence
- In conjunction with Materials Planning, support inventory level maintenance via bin inspection and direct feedback to the planning/procurement (to trigger sourcing)
- Cross train and provide direct coverage for Shipper / Receiver as required on a daily/weekly basis
- Work closely with Operations, Materials Planning, Purchasing, Accounting and Sales teams to ensure appropriate support and adherence to process
- Actively participate in GPT’s Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Policy and comply with all procedures, rules and regulations
- All other duties as may be assigned
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in logistics or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of international shipping & receiving & inventory experience within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with international logistics companies and brokers
- WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods experience
- Experience working in an ISO certified operation
- Receiving and inventory management experience (physical and system related)
- High ability to utilize inventory management software (SAP By Design is a strong asset)
- Ability to accurately track inventory, create reports and recommend actions
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to draft emails and verbally communicate in a clear and professional manner
- Strong customer relationship skills and understand the importance of meeting the demanding needs of our customers
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- An analytical mind with strong math skills, and attention to detail
- May require lifting of boxes up to 50lbs and/or pallet movement, etc.
- Forklift operation experience and valid operator’s certificate
- Enjoys working in a dynamic work environment, with attention to on-time delivery
- Attention to detail ensuring accuracy of all tasks/responsibilities
- Knowledge and experience working within a lean manufacturing environment is an asset
