Position Overview

The Assistant Maintenance Manager ensures high-quality maintenance work for guest satisfaction and safety. This role involves supervising, directing, and mentoring the Maintenance team to achieve optimum performance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Follow and implement maintenance programs for hotel buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
Assign and oversee daily tasks, routine work, and repair orders.
Assist with project completion, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
Maintain equipment in proper working condition and comply with licensing requirements.
Conduct regular checks of boilers, hot tubs, generators, analyzing and addressing issues.
Perform hands-on maintenance tasks alongside the team.
Assist with snow removal and material transport as needed.
Oversee Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS compliance for the team.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Maintenance Building and related areas.
Monitor and control costs for labor, materials, and equipment.
Assist in hiring, scheduling, training, and disciplining Maintenance staff.
Prepare staff schedules, ensuring fair allocation and staff retention.
Participate in staff meetings and maintain ongoing communication with the Maintenance Manager and General Manager.
Ensure staff training in emergency procedures and power outages.
Facilitate communication with all departments for cohesive teamwork.
Participate in cost-saving initiatives and complete administrative paperwork.
Adhere to grooming and dress code.
Assist other departments as required.

Qualifications

Relevant trade qualification (electrical/plumbing/carpentry/HVAC) or power engineering certification (4th or 5th class), or two years of maintenance experience.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Willingness to be a hands-on manager with a significant focus on operational tasks.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Experience in hospitality, with a focus on customer service is an asset.
Organized and detail-oriented, capable of multitasking and handling high-pressure situations.
Physical capability for tasks involving standing, bending, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and climbing ladders.
