Reporting to the Supervisor of Recreation Customer Service, the Receptionist/Cashier, Arenas is responsible for providing customer service in person at the reception desk through telephone and on-line, including:
dealing effectively with customer complaints and inquiries;
processing admissions for Town programs through Point of Sale software;
providing information and processing program registrations;
selling Town of Whitby retail items;
providing information on all Town services and policies;
receiving and processing payments for services and admissions;
reconciling daily receipts;
booking and processing of permits for indoor and outdoor recreation facilities and community centres;
providing clerical assistance in the form of preparing documentation, filing, record keeping, etc.; and
assisting with other projects/duties as may be required.
Our Community Services team is looking for an enthusiastic, solutions-oriented team player who takes initiative and thrives on a high performing team. You are self-motivated, self-starting and utilize a proactive approach to work. You value partnerships. Using your excellent communication and interpersonal skills you foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers, and work well both independently and as part of a team. You demonstrate tact, diplomacy and sound discretion when working with a broad range of partners.
A high volume of work does not intimidate you. You are excellent at prioritization and time management, and can work under pressure to meet deadlines. You are a problem solver. You love to research and analyze problems: identifying, gathering and processing relevant information to determine possible solutions, evaluate them and make recommendations. As far as you’re concerned, anything worth doing is worth doing right.
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
a secondary school graduation diploma;
one (1) to two (2) year's experience working in a customer service environment;
telephone and cash handling experience;
a demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), with well-developed computer skills;
a demonstrated working knowledge of facility and recreation software ACTIVE Net is preferred; and,
a valid police criminal record check to work with the vulnerable sector.
Salary Range/Hourly rate:
$23.29 - $25.78
