About ClearBooks
ClearBooks Technology Inc. is a fast-growing, AI-driven bookkeeping and accounting firm headquartered in Vancouver, BC. We serve ambitious startups and SMBs across Canada — from pre-revenue founders to companies doing $20M+ in revenue — and we're not your typical accounting firm.
We've built our entire practice on technology, automation, and a genuine passion for helping businesses thrive. Our team is remote, diverse, and deeply committed to doing great work for great clients. And right now, we're at an inflection point — scaling our service lines, growing our team, and building something we're genuinely proud of.
This is an exciting time to join ClearBooks. The kind of exciting where what you build here will still be felt years from now.
The Opportunity
We're looking for our first-ever FP&A Manager — the founding member of what will become a full FP&A service line at ClearBooks. You won't be stepping into an existing department. You'll be building one.
Working directly with the CEO, you'll define how we deliver FP&A as a service, develop the processes and playbooks, and eventually help commercialize this offering to our growing client base. This role is equal parts builder, analyst, and trusted advisor — for both our clients and for us internally.
If you're a sharp FP&A professional who's ready to stop being a contributor in someone else's system and start building your own, this is your seat at the table.
What You'll Do
Service Design & Delivery
- Design and build the FP&A service line from the ground up — playbooks, templates, workflows, and delivery standards
- Develop repeatable financial models for budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning across our client portfolio
- Create KPI dashboards and reporting packages tailored to early-stage and growth-stage companies
- Support clients through fundraising processes — investor-ready financial models, board reporting, and data room support
- Own variance analysis and monthly financial reporting for clients across our bookkeeping and controller tiers
Internal & Strategic
- Contribute to the commercialization strategy for the FP&A service line — packaging, pricing, and positioning
- Participate in occasional client-facing calls to present financial insights and recommendations
- Lay the foundation for a future FP&A team — with potential to hire a junior analyst within 6 months
Who You Are
- 4–7 years of FP&A experience, ideally with exposure to startups or SMBs across multiple industries
- Strong financial modelling skills in Excel and/or Google Sheets — you build models people actually use
- Comfortable working with accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks Online) to pull and interpret actuals
- Exposure to FP&A or reporting tools (Fathom, Jirav, Mosaic, or similar) is a strong asset
- You can translate financial complexity into clear, actionable insights for non-finance founders and operators
- Entrepreneurial and self-directed — you don't wait to be told what needs to exist, you build it
- Comfortable working remotely and async across time zones
- CPA designation is not required — strong FP&A chops are what matter here
Your First 90 Days
We want you to hit the ground running — and we want to set you up to do exactly that. Here's what success looks like:
30 Days — Learn, Listen, and Orient
- Complete deep-dive onboarding: understand ClearBooks' service tiers, client base, tech stack, and team structure
- Review existing client financial packages and identify where FP&A value is currently missing
- Shadow the CEO and Controllers on client calls to understand how we communicate and deliver work
- Audit available tools (Xero, QBO, Fathom, etc.) and assess what FP&A infrastructure already exists
- Deliver a written assessment of your observations and initial recommendations for the service line
60 Days — Build the Foundation
- Develop a standardized financial model template suite (budget, forecast, cash flow, scenario analysis) ready for client deployment
- Draft the FP&A service playbook: scope definitions, deliverable standards, and a repeatable monthly workflow
- Identify 2–3 existing ClearBooks clients who are strong candidates for an FP&A service upsell
- Present a proposed FP&A service offering (packages, pricing, positioning) to the CEO for review
90 Days — Operationalize and Begin Commercializing
- FP&A playbook is live and documented — ready to onboard a future junior analyst
- At least one FP&A service pilot is underway with an existing client
- KPI dashboard framework built and ready for client deployment
- You and the CEO have aligned on the 6-month roadmap for the FP&A service line
