JOB OVERVIEW
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Data Developer.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Lake Platform Engineering, the successful candidate will lead the development of data pipelines, data models, and automation across multiple data sources. They will work in agile teams and collaborate with business and technology partners to deliver resilient, reliable, and governed data infrastructure.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design and develop scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using cloud-native tools and modern data engineering practices.
- Build and maintain data models that integrate multiple data sources to support BI, reporting, and analytics needs.
- Apply data security, governance, and quality controls throughout the data pipeline lifecycle.
- Optimize queries, jobs, and workflows to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines, reusable components, and automation scripts to improve delivery efficiency.
- Collaborate with analysts, architects, developers, and business partners to deliver cohesive data solutions.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to enterprise metadata, cataloguing, and data lineage practices.
- Lead agile delivery of user stories, support production data pipelines, monitor platform health, and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a four-year university education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another related discipline.
- At least 6 years of experience working with data platforms
- Experience in Data Engineering with strong fluency in SQL, Python, Spark, and Azure services is required.
- Experience with creating Data Pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
- Experience working with data pipeline and query optimization techniques within Databricks.
- Experience with Unity Catalog.
