Opening soon in the heart of Norwood, Fieldstone Cafe & Bakery is a brand-new neighborhood destination set inside one of the town’s oldest, most beautiful heritage stone buildings. We are building a vibrant, welcoming space that combines cozy sit-down dining and busy takeout with a scratch-made bakery counter and a premium ice cream bar. As a founding member of our team, you will help us bring this beautiful historic space to life and establish a warm, community-focused gathering place. We are seeking a talented and passionate Baker to join our team.

In this role, you will be the creative heart of our kitchen, scratch-baking a daily menu that includes but is not limited to scones, muffins, cookies, bars, cakes, tarts, pies, cinnamon buns, breads and other seasonal pastries. The ideal candidate has a love for early mornings, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain consistent quality and flavor for a busy bakery counter. We have both part-time and full-time hours available with a starting rate of $17.60/hour (negotiable based on experience).

Core Responsibilities

Scratch Baking: Prepare and bake a daily rotation of high-quality muffins, scones, cookies, dessert bars, cakes, tarts, pies, and fresh cinnamon buns and other yeasted doughs from scratch.
Production Prep: Measure, weigh, mix ingredients, and bake products according to established recipes, and manage inventory to prevent waste.
Display & Presentation: Decorate, frost, and slice baked goods with an eye for detail, ensuring the bakery counter looks irresistible and inviting. Restocking display as needed.
Kitchen Upkeep: Maintain a clean and organized baking station, wash baking tools and equipment, and strictly follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Menu Planning: Collaborate on seasonal menus, holiday specials, and creative new pastry offerings.
Customer service: Assisting customers at the bakery and ice cream counter as needed. Taking accurate customer preorders in person and over the phone.
POS Operation: Operate the Clover cash register and accurately process cash and card payments.

Requirements & Qualifications

Baking Experience: Proven experience as a baker or pastry cook is an asset but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Early Morning Availability: Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts, which typically start between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM to ensure the cases are full before opening at 7:00 AM.
Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple timers and prep lists simultaneously.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs, and handle the physical demands of a busy kitchen.
Certification: A Food Handlers Certification is highly preferred (or a willingness to obtain one upon hire).
