Make an Impact Beyond the Numbers | Full-Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting Manager
Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for an Accounting Manager/Bookkeeper in the not for profit industry in Victoria, British Columbia.
Are you an experienced accounting professional looking for a role where your contributions extend beyond financial reporting? Our non-profit client is seeking a Bookkeeper/Accounting Manager to oversee the organization's full accounting cycle while supporting operational and administrative initiatives. This position is ideal for a proactive, service-oriented professional who enjoys being part of a mission-driven team and contributing to both financial excellence and organizational success. The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys understanding the broader goals of the organization and supporting colleagues wherever needed.
Total rewards:

$30.00 - $35.00 hourly
Full-time, stable Monday to Friday schedule (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM)
Excellent benefits package including pension plan
3 weeks vacation to start increasing to 4 weeks after 5 years
Salary review at 3 months, 6 months and then yearly

A typical day:

Manage the organization's full-cycle accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, and reconciliations
Prepare month-end and year-end financial reporting and maintain accurate financial records
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, project funding administration, and financial analysis
Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with applicable financial requirements
Maintain and update internal databases, records, and information systems
Prepare reports and assist with data management and operational projects
Provide administrative and cross-functional support to staff and leadership as needed
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and organizational efficiency

Successful candidates will have:

Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Finance Manager, Accounting Manager, or Full-Charge Bookkeeper in a non-profit environment preferred
Strong expertise in accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and full-cycle bookkeeping
Solid understanding of Canadian accounting practices and financial controls
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications - preference given to those that are familiear with Sage 300 and Digital Filing Soho Dox
Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills with strong comprehension abilities
Highly organized with strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills
Flexible and willing to support administrative responsibilities, including database maintenance and operational projects
Valid driver's license, clean driver's abstract, and ability to successfully complete a criminal record check
