Cross Country Canada Supplies & Rentals Inc. (CCCSR) is a growing industrial supply and rental company with locations throughout Alberta and British Columbia. We support pipeline, civil construction, industrial, oil & gas and mining projects by providing equipment rentals, industrial supplies, and customer-focused solutions across Western Canada.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Buyer to join our team at our Corporate Office in Spruce Grove, Alberta. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with strong industry knowledge, proven negotiation skills, and a passion for supplier management, inventory optimization, and strategic sourcing.
As a key member of our team, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, ensuring product availability, and supporting operational and financial objectives through effective purchasing practices.
The successful candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, or inventory management and demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with existing suppliers while identifying and qualifying new vendors to support business growth.
- Lead supplier negotiations to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable service agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, and overall value.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supply chain efficiencies.
- Research market trends, product developments, and supplier capabilities to support purchasing decisions.
Purchasing & Procurement
- Source products and equipment that align with company standards, customer requirements, and operational needs.
- Prepare, issue, and manage purchase orders accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, budgets, and inventory objectives.
- Monitor pricing trends and market conditions to support cost-effective purchasing strategies.
Inventory Management
- Manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.
- Analyze inventory performance, consumption trends, and forecasting data to support purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with operations, sales, and warehouse teams to maintain inventory accuracy and support customer demand.
- Develop and implement inventory strategies that improve service levels and operational efficiency.
Operational Support
- Coordinate with warehouse, shipping, and receiving teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and products.
- Resolve purchasing discrepancies, shortages, damaged shipments, backorders, and vendor-related issues.
- Support new product introductions and identify innovative solutions that enhance CCCSR's product offering.
- Provide procurement expertise and recommendations to management and operational teams.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience of progressive purchasing, procurement, strategic sourcing, or inventory management experience.
- Previous experience within the oil and gas, pipeline, industrial, construction, or related sectors is considered a strong asset.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Proven experience negotiating contracts, pricing agreements, and supplier terms.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including inventory analysis and demand forecasting.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Working knowledge of pipeline equipment, industrial tools, parts, and related products is an asset.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience using inventory management or ERP software; Sage experience is considered an asset.
- Professional designation such as SCMP, PMAC, CPSM, or equivalent is considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional travel may be necessary.
- Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet operational requirements.

Pay: $85,000.00-$92,000.00 per year
