Senior CNC Machinist
A well-established Calgary-based precision manufacturing company serving leading global OEM customers across aerospace, energy, transportation and other industrial markets is looking to add experienced CNC machinists to its team.
This is a hands-on opportunity for a skilled machinist who can independently set up and operate CNC equipment, troubleshoot machining issues, interpret complex technical drawings and consistently produce high-precision components. The successful candidate will also help implement new programs and provide technical guidance to other machinists.
What You’ll Do
· Set up and operate CNC mills and/or turning centres.
· Prepare fixtures, tooling and machines for production.
· Operate multiple machines safely and efficiently.
· Manufacture parts according to customer drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
· Perform precise in-process measurements to ensure parts meet required tolerances.
· Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T and machining instructions.
· Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming and setup issues.
· Implement and prove out new part programs.
· Keep machines loaded and running while preparing for upcoming operations.
· Communicate job status, production issues and material requirements to Production Control.
· Work closely with Quality Control to address inspection results and quality concerns.
· Perform routine preventive maintenance.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
· Train and provide technical guidance to other machinists.
· Work constructively with supervisors, quality personnel and production team members.
What You Bring
· Approximately 10 years of CNC machining experience is preferred.
· Strong experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or turning centres.
· Ability to independently set up and run a variety of parts.
· Excellent G-code knowledge and program-editing ability.
· Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and GD&T.
· Strong visualization, troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
· Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspecting parts to tolerances tighter than 0.001 inch.
· Ability to troubleshoot machining processes, setups, tooling and programs.
· Experience implementing and proving out new CNC programs.
· Ability to operate multiple machines effectively.
· College-level machining education, trade certification or equivalent technical training is an asset.
· Experience with EDM, manual machining or CNC programming is an asset.
