Overview
We are seeking an experience and detail-oriented Structural Steel Detailer to join our steel fabrication company. If you have a passion for 3D modeling and want to work on exciting, diverse structural projects, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Create highly accurate 3D models of structural steel and miscellaneous metals using Tekla Structures.
- Generate detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, erection plans, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Identify and resolve design conflicts or interferences (clash detection) before fabrication begins.
- Interpret structural drawings, architectural designs (IFC), and project specifications.
- Write and track Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify missing or conflicting design data.
- Produce CNC data (NC/DXF files) to support our automated fabrication equipment.
- Ensure all models and drawings comply with AISC, NISD, and company standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of Tekla Structures.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication and erection practices.
- Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
- Knowledge of Canadian building practices and CISC standards.
- Experience detailing structural steel, miscellaneous metals, stairs, railings, and embeds is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Preferred Qualifications Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of CNC data generation and fabrication workflows.
- Previous experience working for a structural steel fabricator.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday
- 7am-5:30pm
- Weekly pay
- Overtime after 44 hours in a week
Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
