What You'll Be Doing

As a Junior Legal Assistant, you'll work closely with lawyers and experienced support staff while developing your legal and administrative skills.

Responsibilities include:

Opening, organizing, and maintaining client files
Drafting and preparing correspondence and legal documents
Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and third parties
Scheduling meetings, appointments, and court dates
Managing calendars and monitoring deadlines
Assisting with file management from opening to closing
Performing conflict checks and file intake procedures
Supporting lawyers with day-to-day administrative and legal tasks
Learning new processes and contributing to a collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate/Diploma
Approximately 1 year of experience in a law firm environment
Experience in litigation, collections, foreclosure, or related legal work is considered a strong asset
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
Experience with LEAP or other legal practice management software is an asset
