What you will do
The IT Help Desk Technician supports the effective delivery and maintenance of information technology systems across the library system as part of the Information Technology team. This role also provides high-quality customer service through the IT Help Desk, assisting staff with technical issues and ensuring prompt resolution.
In this role you will:
- Monitor and provide timely and effective responses to all requests received through the IT help desk such as hardware, software, peripheral, mobile device, and phone issues for on-site and remote users
- Document all IT help desk service and support requests and ensure that all tickets requiring follow up work and/or calls receive appropriate attention
- Troubleshoot and resolve all IT related problems and escalate requests to the appropriate individuals or vendors as needed
- Install, set up, and configure all computer hardware, software, systems, and network with all required peripherals based on best practices
- Replace or repair defective parts and equipment and monitor network connectivity and system performance to identify issues and take corrective action
- Monitor, configure, update and maintain security software (e.g. antivirus and malware protection software, filtering) and security tools to ensure the privacy and security of the library computer systems and network
What you bring
- Post-secondary degree/diploma or certificate in information technology/computer support or a combination of equivalent training/coursework and relevant experience
- ITIL Foundations Certification or solid understanding of ITIL processes and experience implementing ITIL concept
- Apple Certified Support Professional Certification and/or Microsoft Certification for Windows 10
- Advanced knowledge of computer networking
- 2 years of technical/computer support experience in a networked environment
- 2-3 years of in-depth technical experience of enterprise Microsoft environments
- Strong technical knowledge in IT systems, hardware and software
- Ability to be flexible, handle multiple tasks and frequent interruptions
