Position Summary
The Registered Practical Nurse in the Dialysis Unit is responsible for comprehensive, co-coordinated and individualized care of patients with End Stage Renal Disease requiring hemodialysis treatments. The Registered Practical Nurse is an active member of the multidisciplinary care team that provides care to the patient and support to their families.
Qualifications
- Hold a current certificate of competence to practice as a R.P.N. in Ontario.
- Minimum of one (1) year medical/surgical experience within the past five (5) years, working at full scope.
- Minimum of one (1) year recent hemodialysis experience required.
- Successful completion of a Physical Assessment Course, Medication Administration course, and Aseptic Principles certificate required (exempt if newly graduated within the past four (4) years).
- Essential duties require ability to lift and move patients, pushing, pulling, bending & stooping.
- Demonstrated ability to function efficiently and effectively as a team member.
- The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an excellent attendance record and a proven commitment to professional development, as well as to the Mission of the Hospital.
