SUMMARY
We are urgently looking for 6 SMT Line Operators to start immediately, on night shift.
Responsible for managing and optimizing the operation of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines to ensure efficient, high-quality production. This critical role leverages advanced electronics manufacturing technology within a dynamic contract manufacturing environment and reports to the SMT Supervisor, Production Leader or designate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for running the SMT lines and SMT machine/feeder setup.
· Perform parts taping and reeling when required.
· Verifying board assembly prior to reflow.
· Ensure the parts are installed on the board as per BOM and ViewStation.
· Ensure workmanship conforms to IPC 610 Standards.
· Ensure first off is being done completely before giving a green signal to the SMT line to run.
· Ensure all the problems found during the first off inspection have been highlighted to the SMT technicians and have been rectified before running the second board.
· Perform daily maintenance of SMT equipment and verify all processes are performed to the documentation.
· Run Quality Product on all SMT lines, stop and raise issues when required.
· Report all issues to QC and SMT Supervisor and ensure housekeeping is always maintained.
· Ensure that each board is being properly scanned through the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
· Adherence to operational protocols is mandatory in this role. Skipping required steps such as scanning boards or using ViewStation during production can compromise quality and safety standards; failure to follow these procedures may result in suitable corrective actions.
· Bring all scanning related issues to the attention of the Production Leader or designate.
· Handle and store materials/boards using ESD guidelines.
· Ensure quality standards are maintained all through the production.
· Position may involve physical demands such as lifting of heavy objects.
· Perform any other relevant tasks to help any other area in production.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
· Certificate or Diploma in Electronics or enrolled in a technical school would be an asset.
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in SMT Line Operation is desirable, not mandatory.
· Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn and receive training on SMT principles is essential for success in this role.
· Good knowledge of electronic assemblies including through hole and SMT components, drawings and BOMS.
· Demonstrated ability to read values and correct polarity of Surface Mount components.
· Knowledge of quality systems and ESD control.
· Good work habits and housekeeping including using 5S principles and guidelines.
· Police Criminal Background check required as a condition of employment for external hires.
LOCATION
· The location is based in Markham, Ontario facilities (Building A at 195 Royal Crest Court and/or Building B at 3930 14th Avenue)
· Incumbents must be open to working at both facilities as business and operational needs dictate
HOURS OF WORK - 100% ON-SITE
· Night Shift: Monday to Friday 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (may be scheduled for training on days or afternoon shift as needed). Full overnight shifts physically worked are applicable to a $2/hour shift premium. Any other hours worked during training or other business reasons that are not full overnight hours (ie. 11 pm to 7 am)will not be eligible for the $2/hour shift premium.
