Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sub-Contractor Small Engine Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and related equipment, ensuring optimal performance for a variety of machinery. The service area is from Osoyoos to Kelowna. Your expertise will help keep our clients' equipment running smoothly and efficiently, contributing to their productivity and satisfaction. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical skills in a dynamic environment, working with a wide range of small engines and light equipment including lawnmowers, tractors, ATV's, generators, and other power equipment.
Duties
- Perform detailed diagnostics on small engines using schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately.
- Must have your own tools and reliable transportation along with insurance and worksafe.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on small engines, including replacing parts, tuning engines, and troubleshooting electrical systems.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical tools to complete repairs efficiently.
- Assist with heavy lifting of engine components and equipment during repair procedures to ensure safety and proper handling.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams to facilitate precise repairs on complex engine systems.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair processes, offering maintenance advice, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for quality control and reporting purposes.
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience with small engines or similar machinery is essential.
- Knowledge of light equipment repair techniques and familiarity with a range of equipment brands is preferred.
- Electrical experience related to engine systems is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with hand and power tools is required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on large or heavy engine components.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by excellent problem-solving skills.
- Customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
