Panacea Clinic is 20,000 sq ft facility which includes 2 large operating rooms, 2 minor procedures rooms, 2 endoscopy units, a PACU, an MDR, a physiotherapy department and subspecialty clinics. Various Surgical specialty procedures will be performed. The facility is designed carefully to maximize the space utilization and to meet the latest SOPs and best practice to ensure quality of services, and achieve patient safety.
Job Description
The Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) will use the nursing process in providing patient care to surgical patients in the role of an OR First Assist to the surgeon during surgical cases. The RNFA will participate actively, as a member of the surgical team, in the patient's perioperative experience advocating for the patient while working within an interprofessional team environment. The RNFA will help with tasks between surgical cases, such as surgical nerve blocks, or other nursing tasks in the perioperative setting as needed. The RNFA practices according to the College of Nurses of Ontario standards of practice in keeping with the policies, procedures and standards of rules and regulations in Ontario.
Qualifications

- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Current BCLS Certification required at time of hire
- RNFA certification required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience within the perioperative RNFA role within a variety of operating room services required
- Evidence of good technical operating room skills that adhere to AORN/ORNAC standards
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving skills as well as negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to act as resource and role model
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments reflecting the Operating Room standards of practice for an RPN in the scrub role
- Ability to perform in an emergency situation appropriately
- Able to transfer, turn and lift patients both manually and with mechanical aides
- Flexibility in scheduling is expected to meet the scheduling needs of the Operating Room
- Evidence of continued learning relative to the position
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

Hours: Monday to Sunday; Days & Evenings; Various rotating shifts
