Mint Auto Body & Glass is looking for a hardworking, dependable person who wants to learn the collision repair industry and become an important part of our team.
This is a diversified, hands-on position where you will work throughout the shop and learn several different areas of collision repair.
You may be helping with vehicle teardown and reassembly, parts organization, paint preparation, detailing, shop cleanliness, vehicle movement and general production support.
This is not a position where you will be stuck doing the same task every day.
For someone with the right attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn, this role can become the starting point for a long-term career in collision repair and potentially a Red Seal apprenticeship pathway.

Mint Auto Body & Glass is a family-run collision repair shop in Burnaby with more than 40 years of history.
We are an ICBC Collision Repair Program facility, and our reputation has been built through word of mouth, taking care of our customers and going above and beyond whenever we can.

What You’ll Be Doing
This role moves around the shop by design.
Depending on what is happening that day, you may be working in several different areas.
Vehicle Teardown & Reassembly
You will learn to:
- Remove bumpers, lamps, grilles, trim and other vehicle components
- Assist with vehicle teardown for damage assessment and repair planning
- Carefully organize removed components, clips, hardware and fasteners
- Help identify additional damage discovered during teardown
- Reassemble drivable vehicles when required while parts are being ordered
- Assist technicians with vehicle assembly and production
- Learn how collision-damaged vehicles move through the complete repair process
- Handle vehicle components carefully to avoid unnecessary damage
Paint Preparation
You will assist our paint department with tasks such as:
- Sanding
- Masking
- Preparing panels for refinishing
- Priming support
- Cleaning and preparing vehicles before paint
- Helping prepare parts and panels for the painter
- Keeping the prep area clean and organized
- Learning proper preparation procedures and quality standards
Parts & Production Support
You will help make sure technicians have the correct parts when they need them.
Responsibilities may include:
- Organizing parts carts
- Labelling and staging parts
- Checking parts against vehicles and repair orders
- Helping identify missing, incorrect or damaged parts
- Moving parts to the appropriate technician or vehicle
- Keeping parts carts organized throughout the repair
- Making sure hardware and removed components stay with the correct vehicle
- Helping maintain an organized parts storage area
- Assisting the team wherever needed to keep vehicles moving through production
Vehicle Detailing
The final presentation of every vehicle is important.
You will assist with:
- Interior cleaning
- Exterior washing
- Vacuuming
- Cleaning glass
- Cleaning wheels and vehicle surfaces
- Preparing vehicles for final inspection
- Making sure completed vehicles are clean and ready for customer delivery
We want every vehicle to leave the shop looking professionally repaired and professionally presented.
Shop Cleanliness & Organization
A clean and organized shop is extremely important to us.
We believe cleanliness and organization are everyone's responsibility.
This role will play an important part in helping us maintain a professional, safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Keeping your work area clean and organized throughout the day
- Cleaning up after each task instead of leaving messes behind
- Keeping tools, parts and materials in their proper locations
- Making sure parts carts remain clean, labelled and organized
- Keeping floors and walkways clear
- Helping maintain clean teardown, prep and detailing areas
- Removing garbage, packaging and unnecessary clutter
- Putting tools and equipment back where they belong
- Helping keep vehicles, carts and equipment positioned properly
- Keeping commonly used work areas organized
- Helping maintain a professional-looking shop for customers and visitors
- Taking ownership when you notice something that needs to be cleaned, organized or put away
We are looking for someone who naturally notices when something is out of place and takes the initiative to deal with it.
Cleaning and organization are not considered separate from the job.
They are part of doing the job properly.
General Shop Support
This is a team-oriented position.
There will be times when you may be asked to help with:
- Moving vehicles
- Bringing vehicles into or out of the shop
- Helping technicians with equipment or materials
- Cleaning work areas
- Organizing inventory
- Receiving or moving parts
- Preparing vehicles for the next stage of production
- Helping another department when it becomes busy
The ability to move between departments and help wherever needed is one of the most important parts of this position.
One day may involve teardown.
Another may involve helping our painter.
Another may involve organizing parts and preparing completed vehicles for delivery.
That variety is intentional.
We want someone who wants to learn the entire collision repair operation instead of being limited to one task.

Experience with hand tools, automotive work, detailing, paint preparation or collision repair is an asset, but it is not required for the right person.
Automotive program students, collision repair students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
A valid B.C. driver's licence is required.

Compensation
$22–$28 per hour
Starting wage will depend on automotive experience, collision experience, tool knowledge and demonstrated ability.
Someone entering the industry with limited experience will normally start toward the lower end of the range.
Someone who already has experience with teardown, reassembly, preparation, detailing or collision repair may start higher.
As your skills, productivity and responsibilities increase, there is an opportunity for your compensation to increase as well.
