Job Title: Shop Supervisor
Location: Abbotsford, BC
Job Summary
The Shop Supervisor oversees daily operations of the maintenance shop, ensuring all company trucks and equipment are serviced, repaired, and maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulations. This role manages technicians’ productivity, schedules work and regular reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate activities of mechanics and shop staff – Managing team of 11 mechanics including 3 service vans.
- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles
- Ensure timely diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations
- Monitor shop productivity, efficiency, and quality of work
- Manage work orders, maintenance records, and service logs
- Inspect complete repairs to ensure quality and safety standards
- Coordinate with operations team to prioritize urgent repairs
- Control inventory of parts, tools, and supplies
- Work with vendors and suppliers for parts procurement and external repairs
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures.
- Assist in budgeting and cost control for maintenance operations
Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification is an asset
- 5+ years of experience in diesel truck maintenance
- 2+ years in a supervisory or lead mechanic role
- Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems and diagnostics
- Familiarity with fleet maintenance software and work order systems
