Optometric / Optical Assistant - Patient Experience
Have a background in customer service and are interested in healthcare and wellness. We are a boutique practice focused on superior patient care and service, located downtown near King & Spadina.
We are looking for enthusiastic team player to join us as an optometric / optical assistant focused on the patient experience. The successful candidate must have attention to detail, amazing communication skills and an empathy for patients from first contact through ongoing care. Experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right individual who has an interest in healthcare and the optical industry. Experience in customer service or retail is a plus. We are looking for a full-time assistant.
Duties and Responsibilities may include
- Creating an amazing patient experience from first contact to their next visit
- Patient reception and telephone answering
- Preliminary testing of patients
- Scheduling patients on the phone, text or online
- Responding to patient email and text inquiries
- Assisting the doctors with patients as directed
- Advising patients on frame selections
- Working with optician and other clinic team members on ordering glasses and contact lenses; billing OHIP, third-parties and patients
- Keeping the office clean and tidy
Qualifications
- Successful completion of at least two-years post-secondary program or two years previous experience in an optometry office or optical retail environment
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English required
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills and work in a team environment is required
- Proficiency with computer use. We are a paperless office using PCs, Macs and other devices.
This is not a seasonal position. Applicants must be eligible to legally work in Canada.

Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 – 40.0 per week
