Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable General Labourer to support our site crews on various construction and site servicing projects throughout the GTA. The ideal candidate is hardworking, safety-focused, and able to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, placement, and finishing of concrete and asphalt for a variety of construction projects.
- Support concrete pours and asphalt paving operations, including placing, screeding, raking, compacting, edging, and finishing surfaces.
- Prepare work areas through excavation, grading, backfilling, compaction, and site preparation activities.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and removal of concrete forms, paving materials, and related construction components.
- Support equipment operators, paving crews, and site personnel with various construction tasks.
- Perform general labour duties, including shovelling, raking, lifting, carrying materials, and site clean-up.
- Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, materials, and supplies as required.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Assist with asphalt paving activities, including spreading, levelling, compacting, and joint work.
- Assist with the setup and removal of traffic control devices, safety barriers, and signage as directed.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained, organized, and stored.
- Follow instructions from Foremen, Supervisors, and Lead Hands to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
- Assist with daily site setup, teardown, and housekeeping to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in concrete construction, asphalt paving, road construction, or general construction is preferred.
- Knowledge of concrete forming, concrete finishing, asphalt placement, grading, and compaction techniques is considered a strong asset.
- Experience with residential, commercial, industrial, municipal, or civil construction projects is an asset.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, paving operations, and active construction sites while following all safety procedures.
- Experience using construction hand tools, power tools, compactors, and other paving or concrete-related equipment.
- Ability to read and follow construction drawings, grades, elevations, and site instructions is an asset.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working full shifts with occasional overtime as required.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered strong assets.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, including safe work practices around paving and concrete operations, is an asset.
