Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Fitness Supervisor to cover maternity leave at our Private Athletic Club. This role is ideal for an experienced fitness professional with strong leadership and communication skills who can motivate clients and oversee daily operations of our fitness programs. Duties
- Work closely with the Fitness Manager to oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations of the Group Fitness Schedule and Fitness Center.
- Manager both the fitness center floor and four fitness studios to ensure that all health and safety needs are met.
- Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of group fitness instructors.
- Carrying out fitness evaluations, interpretation and conveying this evaluation to the Member.
- Respond to all member issues concerning the group fitness classes and schedule.
- Create and run fitness programs with the approval of the Fitness Manager.
- Ensure all classes are covered and facilitate sub procedures to all instructors. Report class tracking numbers on a monthly basis to the Fitness Director
- Be prepared to teach a class if an instructor is absent for a class.
- Maintaining and cleaning of equipment inside the fitness facility (including all studios).
- Submit bi-weekly payroll to the Fitness Manager in a timely manner.
- Using club software, provide daily, weekly, and as needed reports to Fitness Director to track trending and needs.
- Regular room checks in Strength Zone, Pilates Studio, Studio X, Hot Yoga, Contrast Zone and fitness center to ensure water and towels are supplied. Clean equipment and tidy room regularly.
- Provide leadership, support, motivation, and correction for fitness staff, with cross training for all departments as necessary
- Maintain a professional attire and demeanor at all times.
- Participate in club and community events as needed.
- Attend all 10XTO training and meetings, and ensure staff compliance with same.
- Take professional initiative to promote personal training, clinics and all wellness related opportunities
- Participate in departmental and club training, staff meetings, supervisory conferences, committees and special events.
- Develop innovative and creative member fitness programs, workshops and community events.
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in kinesiolgy or other health science or hospitality program.
- Minimum 3 years of proven success in health and fitness/hospitality operations with responsibility of staff supervision and facility management.
- Prior experience in personal training and group fitness required. Experience in sales and management preferred.
- Current CPR/AED and at least one nationally recognized personal training and group fitness certification(s).
- Advanced computer literacy (word, excel, powerpoint, email); working knowledge of CA preferred
- Physical effort required to carry out daily duties such as lifting supplies and gym equipment potentially in excess of 50lbs
- Must have excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and must be able to interact with all levels of guests in a professional and cordial manner.
- Exceptional organizational/problem solving skills, must be self-motivated and very detail oriented.
- Flexible shift availability including evenings, weekends and holidays. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the club. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
- Possible shifts include yet not limited to: monday – friday – 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm, or 10:00 am – 6:00 pm saturday and sunday – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
