PACT (Pearson Accelerator Construction Team) is a General Partnership of Alberici, Amico, Kenaidan, and Obayashi, supported by design partners Egis and Mott MacDonald supported by Weston Williamson + Partners, Woods Bagot and WSP. Together, we are delivering Accelerator, a major program of Pearson LIFT (Long-term Investment in Facilities and Terminals), Toronto Pearson's infrastructure development plan. This multi-year program is designed to address immediate passenger growth demands while preparing Canada’s largest airport for the future of air travel, including critical upgrades to airfield and infrastructure, greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, modernization of Terminals 1 and 3, and the creation of a world-class passenger experience.
JOB SUMMARY
The Health & Safety Coordinator supports the implementation and administration of
health and safety programs across assigned project scopes within the PACT program.
This role is responsible for coordinating safety activities, supporting compliance
initiatives, maintaining safety documentation, and assisting site teams in meeting project
and regulatory safety requirements within a fast-paced construction environment.
This role will support construction activities within active airport and operational
environments where maintaining safety, operational continuity, and stakeholder
coordination are critical. The successful candidate will work closely with construction teams, subcontractors,
client representatives, and project stakeholders to help promote a strong safety culture
across the project.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the implementation of health and safety policies, procedures, and
program requirements across assigned project scopes
- Maintain safety documentation including training records, certifications,
inspections, audits, and incident reports
- Assist in coordinating safety onboarding, orientations, and training compliance
tracking
- Conduct site inspections and support audits to ensure compliance with project
safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Assist in incident reporting, investigations, corrective actions, and follow-up
activities
- Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and communication of safety initiatives
- Track and follow up on safety deficiencies, observations, and corrective actions
- Support compliance with GTAA safety, training, and access requirements
- Assist in preparing safety reports, dashboards, and documentation for internal
and external stakeholders
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to support safe work
practices across the project
- Contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes, reporting, and site
practices
WORK CONDITIONS
The position will be based at our office in Mississauga, Ontario, with visits to the Airport
site as required. Your work schedule will be Monday to Friday during regular office or
site hours. At times, operational needs may require work outside these hours, with
reasonable notice provided. All schedule or on-call adjustments will comply with
applicable employment standards legislation. It is mandatory for all employees to
complete a Criminal Background check and successfully attain a Restricted Access
Identity Card (RAIC) upon joining the company
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working on airport projects, active operational environments, or largescale aviation infrastructure projects is considered a strong asset
- 2–5 years of experience in a health and safety role within airport, construction,
infrastructure, or large-scale capital project environments
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices, site safety coordination, and
regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting inspections, audits, incident investigations, and compliance
tracking activities
- Experience supporting large infrastructure, transportation, industrial, or complex
multi-stakeholder projects is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Ontario health and safety legislation and industry safety standards
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate across
multiple teams and stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume construction environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with safety management systems is
considered an asset
- Ability to work collaboratively with site teams, subcontractors, client representatives,
and project stakeholders
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is
considered an asset
- Relevant certifications such as NCSO or working toward CRSP designation are
considered an asset
