We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) to join our team and support our ongoing commitment to safety excellence across all project sites.
Position Summary
The Construction Safety Officer will work closely with management, supervisors, employees, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with company policies, COR standards, and Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining our COR-certified safety program while promoting safe work practices and a positive safety culture throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, COR requirements, and Saskatchewan OHS legislation.
- Assist with maintaining and improving the company's COR-certified safety management system.
- Conduct new worker orientations and site-specific safety training.
- Lead toolbox talks and participate in safety meetings.
- Complete incident, injury, and near-miss investigations and prepare reports.
- Maintain safety records, documentation, and statistics.
- Assist with developing and updating safe work practices, procedures, and hazard assessments.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with site safety requirements.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, supervisors, and workers to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Participate in COR audit preparation and ongoing program improvement initiatives.
QualificationsRequired
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO®) designation.
- Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Experience conducting site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Preferred
- Construction industry experience.
- COR Auditor training or experience.
- Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience working in commercial, industrial, or civil construction environments.
