Job Title: Program Leader
Start Date: April 17th, 2024
Location: Charlottetown, PE
Length of Contract: 9 weeks with possibility of extension
Wage: $18/hour
Hours: 21/week
Program Information:
The Afterschool Program is for participants aged 5-12. The program operates Monday-Friday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Full day programs will take place over the summer months of June, July & August. The afterschool program offers a healthy snack and structured program sessions to improve the physical, mental and emotional well being of our community.
Job Overview:
Program Leaders will be required to work at least 21 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and fun environment for school-aged children through implementing daily activities and communicating with participants, co-workers and supervisors. The candidate will work to enhance participants' experience by providing new and engaging experiences during our Afterschool & Summer camp programs.
Responsibilities:
- Be onsite Monday to Friday during scheduled program hours
- Facilitate & guide activities throughout the day
- Manage complex behaviours of participants
- Assist with daily tasks: snack preparation & cleanup, leading activities
- Effectively communicate with other staff, supervisors & families
- Monitor children throughout the day and always ensure safety
- Adhere to a daily schedule of activities provided.
- Keep detailed logs of daily interactions with members, incidents & accidents
- Empower the participants to successfully learn and develop appropriate life skills for their abilities
- Assist in the daily upkeep of the center, equipment and supplies
- Actively participate in all programs and activities
