Junior Glazier / Lead Assistant
Founded in 1988, Acara Glass & Aluminum is a full-service glass and aluminum company specializing in the sales, service, and installation of commercial and residential glazing systems throughout Saskatchewan. We are currently looking for a Junior Glazier / Lead Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in learning the glazing trade and gaining hands-on experience in commercial and residential glass and aluminum installation.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced glaziers and installers, assisting with installations and fabrication while developing the skills and knowledge required to advance in the trade. Previous glazing or construction experience is an asset, but is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting experienced glaziers with glass and aluminum installations
- Assisting with the fabrication and installation of:
- Commercial storefronts
- Curtain wall systems
- Window systems
- Sealed units and mirrors
- Glass partitions
- Glass railings
- Aluminum doors and frames
- Loading, unloading, handling, and transporting glass and aluminum materials
- Using hand and power tools
- Assisting with site measurements, layout, and preparation
- Following blueprints, drawings, and installation instructions
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Following all company and job-site safety procedures
- Working safely at heights and outdoors when required
- Learning proper installation techniques and glazing practices
- Taking on additional responsibilities as skills and experience develop
Qualifications:
- Willingness to learn and develop a career in the glazing trade
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable with physical work and handling materials
- Comfortable working outdoors and at heights
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools, or willingness to learn
- Previous construction or glazing experience is an asset but not required
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence is an asset
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely
- A positive attitude and willingness to take on new responsibilities
