We are currently seeking an experienced Shop Foreman to lead our fabrication shop and oversee daily operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated leader who takes pride in quality craftsmanship, mentoring employees, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily shop operations, including welding, fitting, fabrication, and material flow.
- Coordinate manpower and assign work to welders, pipefitters, labourers, and apprentices.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, P&IDs, spool drawings, and work packages.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Operations to prioritize workloads and meet production schedules.
- Monitor productivity and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and promote a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with ABSA, CWB, client specifications, and company quality requirements.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company and customer expectations.
- Assist with planning labour requirements, equipment needs, and shop scheduling.
- Mentor apprentices and support employee development.
- Coordinate receiving, material staging, and equipment utilization.
- Maintain housekeeping and ensure the shop remains organized and efficient.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Welder, Pipefitter, or equivalent industrial trade certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory or foreman experience in an industrial fabrication environment.
- Strong background in pressure piping, structural steel, and module fabrication.
- Excellent understanding of welding processes, fabrication practices, and quality requirements.
- Experience working with ABSA pressure piping codes and CWB welding standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication packages.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and production scheduling.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
