The incumbent performs eye banking duties complying with current regulatory requirements and standards as set out by Health Canada and the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA).
This role is primarily responsible for the receipt, documentation, and processing of ocular tissue for transplant, research or teaching in compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements. This position also provides basic administrative and clinical support including but not limited to data entry, filing, routine cleaning and quality control activities, tissue disposal and handling of blood samples for testing.
Safety Responsibilities :
Responsible for working safely in compliance with accepted safe work practices, procedures and legislated health and safety standards. Employees must: use and wear the equipment, protective devices and personal protective equipment as required; report hazards, accidents, and the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device; attend all required health and safety training; and follow all established safe work procedures.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Organized, detail oriented, meticulous, diligent, and ability follow established guidelines, policies and procedures.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Working experience in a health sciences environment, specifically in organ and tissue donation, tissue recovery and processing, or clinical laboratory medical setting is preferred.
