About the Role:
The Apprentice Welder/Fabricator is responsible for assisting in the cutting, fitting, and assembly of steel-framed products, including dasher board systems (hockey rinks), bleachers, spectator seating, and other custom steel and aluminum fabrications. This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to develop hands-on fabrication skills in a fast-paced shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cutting, fitting, and assembly of steel and aluminum components
- Assist in the fabrication of custom items based on project specifications
- Operate MIG welding equipment in accordance with established procedures
- Support and, when capable, operate automated plasma cutting and CNC welding systems
- Rolling and forming of steel shapes and tubes
- Read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints accurately
- Complete material take-offs and assist with project preparation
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Collaborate with team members to solve fabrication challenges and meet production goalsQualifications & Skills
- Strong aptitude for custom fabrication and problem-solving
- Ability to think creatively and contribute to practical solutions
- Basic knowledge of MIG welding (preferred)
- Familiarity with CNC plasma cutting and automated welding systems (asset)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Certifications (Assets, Not Required)
- Forklift Operator Certification
- Skid Steer Certification
- CSTS (Construction Safety Training System)
- CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Certification
- First Aid Certification
