Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (core hours Mon – Fri 930am – 230pm)
Location: Hybrid | Periodic in-office in Burnaby – on the ancestral Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations (additional in-office details below)
Salary: $90,000 – $110,000 (pay range explained below)
The Role
The Financial Manager will be a critical asset in supporting the day-to-day functioning of the Finance portfolio by providing their expertise with month and year-end closing activities, reconciling reports, and preparing monthly reports.
What You'll Do
- Provides overall financial oversight and monitoring, including development and implementation of sound fiscal management practices
- Ensures accuracy, integrity, and credibility of all accounting records and financial statements
- Oversees and leads the Finance Department including training, managing, mentoring direct reports
- Manages and oversees monthly accounting processes
- Manages relationships with key external partners such as Ministry of Health and Health Authorities
- Prepares and analyze monthly financial statements by program and funder compared to budgets and provides monthly financial statements to Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team
- Analyzes and presents financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, develops financial reporting materials for all portfolios and oversees all financial, projects/programs accounting.
- Oversees and leads annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Executive Director; monitors progress and keeps leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status
- Assures compliance with all local, provincial and federal regulatory requirements in the areas of not-for-profit management and ensures fiscal compliance with all regulations affecting contribution agreements, government contracts and grants
- Coordinates and leads the annual audit process;
- Ensures that an effective system of financial control, including the development of policy and procedures are in place and operating and advise on accounting best practices
- Identify gaps proactively and provide recommendations on financial systems and processes improvement
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
- CPA Designation is required
- 10+ years of recent, related experience in accounting, administration, bookkeeping or a related field
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles / accrual-based accounting methods
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), Quickbooks, and ADP
- Familiarity with financial compliance regulations
- Knowledge of / and experience with accounting and reporting in the not-for-profit sector is needed
- Experience with Government fund structure and reporting requirement is an asset
Compensation & Benefits
Salary of $90,000 – $110,000 - The Pay Range shows the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full-time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements as well as internal equity.
