As a Line Cook at Oh Doughnuts you will be part of the team responsible for bringing doughnut happiness. Using a combination of skill and speed you will be required to prepare and execute many doughnut-themed dishes. This position would be best fit for someone who can work well as part of a team in a fast paced environment but can also keep themselves busy during slow times and maintaining a clean and organized space. We are an upbeat, fun, and inclusive kitchen and would enjoy a positive professional who has a passion for food and everything doughnuts.
Shifts start between 6am & 9am and are typically 4-8 hours in length. Applicants should have an eye for detail, a spring in their step and a sense of humour (it’s a small kitchen!).
Part time position (16-30 hours/week) to start immediately at our Broadway location. Possibility to increase hours into the fall. Starting wage $16.30 with regular increases with good performance, attendance and seniority.
Line cooks are responsible for:
- Stock up - sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies based on kitchen systems and menu requirements.
- Double check - Ensuring proper inventory of sauces, ingredients, and back stock at multiple points during a shift.
- Prepare foods up to standards - Prepare foods such as sandwiches, soups, breakfast and lunch dishes up to business standards by cooking, frying, baking or grilling.
- Following prep lists - Using daily prep lists to plan and execute the prep for their shift.
- Think critically - Make adjustments to recipes and numbers based on orders, kitchen conditions etc.
- Problem solving - Work collaboratively as a team to solve issues that arise during shift.
- Food handling - Using proper food handling procedures when making products, cleaning up areas, putting items away etc.
- Communicating - Communicating with team members and management about work related topics, concerns, comments etc.
- A sense of urgency - Being able to work overnight and maintaining an appropriate work drive as well as a sense of urgency when completing tasks.
- Positive attitude - Maintaining a positive attitude while at work and while dealing with coworkers. Providing an appropriate level of respect to all others in the workplace.
- Other duties as required.
