Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight across various routes, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts and other heavy equipment, ensuring secure handling and proper placement of cargo
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to identify any mechanical issues or safety concerns before departure
- Maintain accurate documentation for each shipment, including delivery logs, inspection reports, and freight manifests
- Perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to ensure vehicle reliability throughout your shift
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries efficiently
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, freight handling, and driving regulations to promote a safe work environment
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving and freight transportation
- Ability to operate forklifts and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of automotive repair basics for troubleshooting minor vehicle issues
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and freight handling
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients
- Physical ability to lift, load, unload, and handle freight regularly throughout shifts
