About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and strategic Senior Financial Analyst to support the financial planning, reporting, and operational decision-making of the organization. This role plays an important part in ensuring financial sustainability, accountability, and strong stewardship of organizational resources.
The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with leadership to provide financial analysis, budgeting support, forecasting, reporting, and recommendations that support organizational growth and long-term planning. This position requires someone who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to communicate financial information cleary.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the preparation and monitoring of organizational budgets, forecasts, and financial reports
- Conducting financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making
- Monitoring program and departmental spending to ensure alignment with budgets and funding requirements
- Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes
- Assisting leadership with financial planning, risk analysis, and sustainability strategies
- Developing financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools to improve financial oversight
- Reviewing and analyzing variances, trends, and financial performance indicators
- Supporting audit preparation and working collaboratively with external auditors as required
- Ensuring compliance with funding agreements, organizational policies, and financial procedures
- Assisting with grant and funding budget development and reporting requirements
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting processes, and efficiencies
- Providing mentorship and guidance to finance team members as appropriate
- Preparing presentations, summaries, and reports for leadership and Council reporting purposes
- Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all financial matters
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field CPA designation completed or in progress is considered a strong asset
- Minimum 5 years of progressive financial analysis or accounting experience
- Experience working with complex budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Strong understanding of financial management principles and accounting practices
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems
- Experience working with non-profit, government-funded, or community-based organizations is considered an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to non-financial audiences
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical financial practices
- Understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and relationship-based approaches is considered an asset
