Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Bakery Manager to lead our bakery operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive retail management experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. This role involves overseeing daily store functions, managing staff, and ensuring the bakery maintains high standards of quality, safety, and profitability. Aa background in merchandising, marketing, and administrative tasks are highly valued to support our diverse customer base and operational efficiency.
Duties
- Lead the team in a manner that demonstrates day-to-day behaviors that align with and strengthen the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, and brand.
- Manage the Department in accordance with the company policies, procedures, programs, merchandising standards and overall expectations.
- Recruit, train, develop, coach and motivate the team while fostering a positive work environment that enables the engagement of all team members in the pursuit of desired results.
- Ensure that all products are fresh and meet company quality standards.
- Perform team performance reviews and action plans for development.
- Manage inventory levels and lead scheduled inventory procedures.
- Provide feedback to the Food Manager regarding recommendations for continued improvement of operations.
- Develop sales promotion programs to grow the business.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding pricing, financial and marketing strategies.
- Develop and administer action plans to achieve the desired results of the business plan.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development and achievement of operational and financial results including sales, margins, expense, inventory and SPEH for your department.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- You have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in retail (Bakery/Deli), with at least 1 year in leadership/supervisory capacity.
- Experience within the Co-op Retailing System, or in a retail Food Store would be an asset.
- Ability to handle multiple demands – adaptable, organized, efficient, and committed.
- You are Customer service-focused and possess good problem-solving skills.
- You’re honest and trustworthy, are result-oriented, and strive to be the best in what you do.
- Proven supervisory experience in retail or food service environments with a focus on bakery or similar food operations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of merchandising strategies, marketing principles, and sales management techniques.
- Experience in recruiting staff and conducting interviews to build effective teams.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities within a fast-paced retail environment. Pay: $17.36-$30.22 per hour
