Hiring: Agricultural Mechanic & Class 1/Equipment Operator
Who We Are
Allam Farms Partnership (AFP) is a family-owned grain farm near Edmonton, Alberta. Established in 1949, we farm over 17,000 acres across Strathcona and Thorhild counties. Our modern operation includes a newly renovated 60' x 200' heated shop near Redwater, Alberta, a fleet of current trucks and trailers, and advanced agricultural technology.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a skilled Agricultural Mechanic to join our team. This role is first and foremost responsible for keeping our equipment operational, reliable, and field-ready.
Secondary to mechanical work, the role includes truck driving when required, and equipment operation during peak seasons such as seeding and harvest.
The ideal candidate is mechanically strong, proactive in diagnosing issues, and understands the importance of minimizing downtime in a large-scale farming operation.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Diagnose, repair, and maintain farm equipment, trucks, and support machinery
✔ Perform preventative maintenance and in-season repairs to minimize downtime
✔ Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems across all equipment
✔ Support truck operations (grain hauling and logistics) as needed
✔ Operate farm equipment during seeding, spraying, and harvest when required
Requirements
✅ Strong mechanical background with experience in agricultural or heavy equipment repair
✅ Proven ability in diagnostics: hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
✅ Welding, fabrication, and general shop skills are strong assets
✅ Experience with heavy trucks and trailers is preferred
✅ Class 1 Licence is an asset (secondary to mechanical ability)
✅ Farm equipment operation experience is an asset
✅ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
✅ Comfortable using technology for maintenance tracking and communication
