Fil-Trek Corporation is a leading manufacturer of industrial filtration equipment for customers worldwide. All of our products are designed and manufactured at our Cambridge, ON facility. As a rapidly growing company, we are looking for skilled Fitters to join our production team and help build high-quality pressure vessels and filtration systems.
Position Overview
The Fitter role is hands-on and central to our shop operations. Fitters are responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints, laying out materials, fitting and assembling pressure vessel components, and working closely with welders to ensure all jobs meet Fil-Trek’s high standards for quality and code compliance.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lay out, fit, and tack vessel shells, heads, nozzles, and pipe assemblies according to drawings and specifications.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to ensure accurate assembly and alignment.
- Use a wide range of mechanical and hand tools, including overhead cranes, grinders, and layout equipment.
- Work with a variety of measuring tools such as tapes, squares, levels, and calipers to verify fit-up dimensions and tolerances.
- Assist with preparing components for welding, including grinding, beveling, and cleaning.
- Work collaboratively with welders, QA, and department leads to complete jobs efficiently.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area while meeting production deadlines.
- Support hydrotest setup and other shop tasks as required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Fitting and fabrication experience in pressure vessel, heavy steel, or pipe assembly required.
- Ability to interpret drawings, weld symbols, and fitting tolerances.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to apply sound judgment and practical decision-making in daily tasks.
- Experience using a variety of measuring tools for precise layout and fit-up.
- Experience with stainless steel and high alloys is considered an asset.
- Welding skills (TIG/GTAW or MIG/GMAW) are a huge asset, but primary focus is fitting.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.
Wage & Tools

- Candidates are expected to have basic tools: 5" grinder, air die grinder, adjustable wrench, and layout hand tools.
